The Intersection Where Anti-Racism and Healthcare Meet

Built to Last: A National Strategy to Cultivate Partnerships Between Healthcare and Communities

Recognizing that effective, equitable healthcare systems require partnerships with community members, many are seeking best practices that foster lasting community relationships.

National organizations working to improve healthcare through authentic partnerships between healthcare systems and community members with lived experiences developed a framework that can be built upon. Project INSPIRE (Initiating National Strategies for Partnership, Inclusion, and Real Engagement) undertook a yearlong process to:

  • Assess the current state of community engagement work nationwide
  • ID best practices through focus groups and interviews
  • Articulate a clear value proposition to community members with lived experiences
  • Create a partnership framework that includes adequate compensation for community members

Learn more about Project INSPIRE’s research and how the group plans to translate these findings into action.
